The FBM KLCI index lost 1.07 points or 0.07% on Friday. The Finance Index fell 0.20% to 15524.51 points, the Properties Index up 0.55% to 820.77 points and the Plantation Index down 0.66% to 6758.37 points. The market traded within a range of 9.99 points between an intra-day high of 1600.17 and a low of 1590.18 during the session.

Actively traded stocks include GPACKET-WB, HSI-H6P, HSI-C7F, EDUSPEC, TAWIN-PA, KNM, KNM-WB, PCCS, DSONIC-WA and IRIS. Trading volume decreased to 1787.74 mil shares worth RM1444.08 mil as compared to Thursday’s 1941.13 mil shares worth RM1851.14 mil.

Leading Movers were MISC (+11 sen to RM7.29), NESTLE (+130 sen to RM149.00), HARTA (+4 sen to RM5.00), PMETAL (+3 sen to RM4.79) and DIGI (+3 sen to RM5.02). Lagging Movers were SIMEPLT (-11 sen to RM4.70), HLFG (-18 sen to RM16.88), AMMB (-3 sen to RM3.91), RHBBANK (-4 sen to RM5.48) and PETCHEM (-5 sen to RM7.15). Market breadth was positive with 390 gainers as compared to 325 losers.

The KLCI ended the week with a negative note, closing lower at 1,599.22 points amid overnight mixed performance in US market. The performance of our local bourse was bogged down by selling interest in heavy weight counters such as Sime Darby Plantation. Hong Leong Financial Group and AMMB Holdings.

PLCs New Sector Classification Effective 24 June 2019

Mid and Small Cap PLCs Eligible for Stamp Duty Exemption

The stamp duty exemption will be applicable for trading of companies listed on Bursa Malaysia Securities with a market capitalization ranging between RM200 million and RM2 billion as at 31 December 2017 for eligibility in 2018. For eligibility in 2019 until 2021, the companies will be based on their market capitalization as at 31 December 2018, 2019 and 2020 respectively. The list of companies will be static until the annual review.
