The FBM KLCI index lost 8.60 points or 0.52% on Thursday. The Finance Index fell 0.23% to 16552.67 points, the Properties Index up 0.01% to 888.25 points and the Plantation Index down 0.80% to 6821.12 points. Read More

The FBM KLCI index lost 8.60 points or 0.52% on Thursday. The Finance Index fell 0.23% to 16552.67 points, the Properties Index up 0.01% to 888.25 points and the Plantation Index down 0.80% to 6821.12 points. The market traded within a range of 11.01 points between an intra-day high of 1659.94 and a low of 1648.93 during the session.

Actively traded stocks include KNM, ISTONE, GPACKET-WB, NETX, ARMADA, IMPIANA, HSI-H6R, KNM-WB, GPACKET and VELESTO-WA. Trading volume decreased to 2833.66 mil shares worth RM1835.43 mil as compared to Wednesday’s 3825.16 mil shares worth RM1968.20 mil.

Leading Movers were SIME (+3 sen to RM2.23), TOPGLOV (+5 sen to RM4.65), PMETAL (+2 sen to RM4.40), GENTING (+2 sen to RM6.62) and PPB (+4 sen to RM18.66). Lagging Movers were PETCHEM (-30 sen to RM7.62), SIMEPLT (-11 sen to RM4.70), DIALOG (-5 sen to RM3.45), PETGAS (-18 sen to RM16.80) and TENAGA (-14 sen to RM13.42). Market breadth was negative with 270 gainers as compared to 575 losers.

The KLCI continued its downtrend and closed lower at 1,648.93 points amid overnight retreat in US markets. The performance of our local bourse was lifted by buying interest in heavy weight counters led by Petronas Chemicals.

Mid and Small Cap PLCs Eligible for Stamp Duty Exemption

The stamp duty exemption will be applicable for trading of companies listed on Bursa Malaysia Securities with a market capitalization ranging between RM200 million and RM2 billion as at 31 December 2017 for eligibility in 2018. For eligibility in 2019 until 2021, the companies will be based on their market capitalization as at 31 December 2018, 2019 and 2020 respectively. The list of companies will be static until the annual review.
